Tropical Summer!

Happy Monday!  Today I wanted to share a quick post about the second swap card I did for our team swap.  I love creating with the Tropical Chic bundle...it just makes me smile!  It's a fantastic bundle with so many fun coordinating products.  With this card I again used Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green for my main colors.

It's a very simple card.  I started with a card base in Basic Black.  On top of this I layered a piece of the Tropical Escape designer series paper and on the bottom a piece of Lovely Lipstick card stock.  Across the front I placed some of the Black Shimmer ribbon to cover the seam.  I stamped 3 of the flowers on the Whisper White card stock and cut those out with the coordinating thinlits.  The green leaf pattern is also a thinlit that I cut in Granny Apple Green...isn't that one just cool??!!  I think it's my favorite in the bundle!  I backed the leaf pattern on a piece of black cardstock and attached to my card front with dimensionals over the ribbon.  The flowers were then also attached with mini dimensionals and I added a rhinestone to the center of each.  The sentiment is stamped in the Tuxedo black ink directly on the Lovely Lipstick card stock.  Like I said....it really was a simple card!!!  Hope you like it!

Lilypad Lake

Hello!  Happy Friday...yay! This week is just flying by.  We just got back from our first ever trip to Lake Powell and now I'm trying to catch up.  If you have never been to Lake Powell it is an incredible place.  We rented a houseboat for 5 days and just relaxed and took in all the incredible scenery.  So fun but I am glad to be home. 

I wanted to share the swap card I did with our team today.  Our swap had a tic tac toe theme.  You needed to pick 3 blocks in a row on the board and go with it.  My picks were designer series paper, embossing, and thank you.  I used the Lilypad Lake bundle and this is what I came up with....

I started with a thick Whisper White Card base.  I embossed the Balmy Blue card stock with the Seaside embossing folder and layered that on a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock.  Then a cut a 2" wide strip of the Tranquil Textures designer series paper, layered that on some Fresh Fig and adhered to the left side of the card. Lots of layers on this one! I cut out the largest circle from the Stitched Framelits and stamped the sentiment in Tranquil Tide and the water across the bottom in Balmy Blue.  Everything else was cut out using the matching framelits.  I colored in the crane with the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends and layered that with dimentionals and then added the pieces of grass.  The lily pad was colored with Stampin' Blends in Rich Razzleberry and for the green I used a blender pen with ink from the Tranquil Tide ink pad.  A little Wink of Stella on top and I was done!  It came together quite quickly actually...

Sweet Stampede Team Blog Hop # 005 - Anything Goes

Welcome to another Sweet Stampede Blog Hop. This month our theme is Anything Goes! Again I am using one of my favorite Suites in the catalog...Tropical Escape!  This is such a fun set of products.  I love playing with it!  

This time I decided to go with some bright, fun colors.  I started with a Poppy Parade card base and layered a piece of the Granny Apply Green card stock on top after I embossed it with the Layered Leaves embossing folder.  I really like using the embossing folders to add just a little bit of texture to my background. 

I stamped some of the leaves with the Granny Apple Green onto Whisper White card stock and cut them out with the coordinating thinlits.  I cut a couple of the fern leaves with the thinlits also.  Those were layered under a piece of Tropical Escape designer series paper.  I stamped the flowers in Bermuda Bay, Poppy Parade and Gorgeous Grape, cut those with the thinlits and layered them over the leaves with dimentionals.  The sentiment is also from the stamp set, stamped in Tuxedo Black Momento ink and cut out with the oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Of course I had to add Rhinestones to the center of each of the flowers.
